Our Background

Liz Davies comes from a banking background and has worked as a Training Development Officer with young people and has also undertaken voluntary youth work.

Gail Stones has a careers information background working with young people and has been involved with community family learning.

What is our role?

Our main roles is to support Year 11 pupils who may be experiencing difficulties coping with their school work. We work in The Zone, which is situated at the front of the school and pupils can also visit us to get information on health, personal issues and school. We operate on an appointment system for mentoring and keep times to a minimum to avoid pupils missing valuable class time. Most pupils are referred by staff but we will consider request from pupils.

As well as a mentoring role, we also organise and co-ordinate the work experience programme within the school. For more information on work experience click here.

We have close links with connexions who are also based in The Zone and we have a variety of reference materials on careers. We also provide pupils with advice on completing CVs abd application forms for employment post 16.
